Katie's Favourite Games

Katie loves different games because she learns by playing. Dogs see games as a way of building their skills needed to survive in the wild. When she chases a ball, she is leaning how to run fast and when she play fights she is learning how to fight, but also that when she bites she can not be too hard. You don't have to buy her many toys because she plays with anything. Katie's favourite toy is a carrot which squeaks when she bites it. These are some of her favourite games.

Tug of War
Katie likes Tug of War because in the wild they would pull a rabbit apart in this way to eat it.

Find
Katie likes find because it is challenging for her to find the hidden dog treats and brazil nuts hidden around the living room.If Katie was a wild dog this would help her find her food. Find is like hide-and-seek with the dog trying to find treats. You first hide the treats and then show Katie some food and tell her "Find". She then goes around the living room looking for the treats.

Catch
We play catch with Katie because that includes her jumping. A wild dog would need this skill to catch birds or a jumpy animal. Catch can be played with balls and dog treats.

Fetch
Fetch is a game that is needed by wild dogs, that if they find some food they pick it up and take it back to their pack.

Water Fights
Water fights are a way of keeping cool in the Summer. In water fights, you can use water guns and spray the water over the dog or you could use a watering can, pretend to be watering the flowers and take her by surprise.

Chase
Chase is for speed, so she can be fast. Chase is a game where you run after Katie, and she runs away from you.

Wrestling
Wrestling teaches her to be gentle, but also to fight. Katie's way of fighting is biting, but by playing wrestling she learns not to bite to harm.

Racing (Yelp and Run)
Yelp and run is where you run from one end of the living room to the other. You can also play this game outside. It is best to play outside because the dog has more area to run.

Stones
In this game, Katie grabs a stone and pus it on the ground. She then growls and runs round the living room, and then she stops, picks up the stone and takes it to the other side of the room. She hen growls and runs around. This can go on for ages. She plays the same game with ice cubes. It's a great summer game.
